IMIZAMO YETHU

Imizamo Yethu Township (Imizamo Yethu is Xhosa for “Our Combined Effort”) was established in 1990. It is right next to an affluent Hout Bay suburb. The 18 hectare area accommodates 25 000 people, of which some of them are living in cramped and squalid conditions with no toilets, plumbing or any other discernible infrastructure for sustainable living.
